MSIG puts Singapore to the challenge with new ultramarathon

MSIG Action Asia 50 series kicks off in Singapore on 25 July 2015

28 Apr 2015

Singapore’s leading general insurance provider, MSIG, presents a brand new addition to its established ultramarathon series – the MSIG Singapore Action Asia 50; a flat, fast urban trail race through the garden city of Singapore on 25 July 2015.

The new ultramarathon is an expansion of the MSIG Action Asia 50 series, which has been successfully held in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Known for designing tough courses in challenging conditions, the latest addition is set to be one of the garden city’s most demanding races yet. Ideal for both experienced ultra runners and those looking to venture in to trail running, the Singapore course will offer a 10km, 21km and 50km trail on a mostly off-road track.

Participants can look forward to competing with elite runners from around the world. Previous MSIG Action Asia 50 events have seen top contenders take part, including Stevie Kremer, Marco de Gasperi, Yan Long Fei, Dong Li, Dai Matsumoto, Elisa Desco, Stephanie Jimenez, Cristofer Clemente, and Kasie Enman.

Michael Gourlay, CEO of MSIG Insurance Singapore, commented: “At MSIG, going above and beyond as an insurer is at the heart of what we do for our customers. The MSIG Action Asia 50 series captures that same spirit of ambition and success through sports. Whether you’re attempting the 10km, the 21km or the 50km, we encourage all runners to push themselves that little bit further. These are values that resonate with the MSIG mission, and we are proud to partner with Action Asia Events to bring this event to Singapore.”

Michael Maddess, Director of Action Asia Events, added: “Trail running is becoming more and more popular both in Singapore and the region as runners head off-road for beautiful scenery and tougher terrain. The MSIG Singapore Action Asia 50 race will offer road runners a new challenge, while the heat and humidity will test the endurance of even the most accomplished competitors. We are also developing a point system which will be linked to the MSIG Action Asia 50 series. This is a great extension to the Singapore race where loyal participants can earn points and be rewarded for their achievements.”
