Travel Advisory

06 Mar 2026

Please note that the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the United States and Iran is considered a known event.

Affected Areas/Countries: Israel, Iran, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Palestinian Territories and the United Arab Emirates.

In response to the recent developments in the Middle East since 28 February 2026, we understand that travellers may be feeling anxious about their travel arrangements. The evolving situation has disrupted air travel in certain regions, and flights operating to, from, or over affected airspace may encounter delays, diversions, or cancellations over the coming days.

We have prepared the following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to explain how this situation may affect policy coverage and to outline the options available to you. For any emergency travel assistance required, please contact the MSIG Assist 24-hour hotline at +65 6323 8288.

  1. My trip commenced before 28 Feb 2026, 2:40 pm (Singapore time) and I am now stranded in an Affected Area/Country because of this event. Do I need to extend my MSIG travel insurance single trip policy?

Yes, if you are unable to return to Singapore before your policy expiry date due to this event, you should extend your policy so that you remain covered for losses or claims not arising from this event, subject to the policy terms and conditions.

Please note that any loss or claim arising from this event remains excluded, even if your policy is extended.

Free automatic extension (up to 7 days)

Due to the special circumstances, we will provide a free automatic extension of cover for up to 7 days from your policy expiry date if:

    - you are unable to return to Singapore;

    - your actual travel destination (as shown on your itinerary/ticket) is in one of the Affected Areas/Countries; and

    - your presence in an Affected Area/Country is not solely for transit (E.g: if your actual travel destination is London and transiting in Dubai, the free automatic extension does not apply).

You do not need to contact us for this free automatic extension.

If you are still unable to return to Singapore after the free 7-day automatic extension of cover, please contact us (before the end of the free automatic extension period) at [email protected] to extend your policy. Additional premium will apply.

  2. Can I cancel my MSIG travel insurance single trip and get a refund because of this event?

Yes, we will provide a full refund if you notify us before your policy start date, as long as no claims have been made under the policy.

To proceed with policy cancellation, please contact us at [email protected].

  3. Will I be covered under my MSIG travel insurance for this event if the policy is purchased before 28 February 2026, 2:40PM?

There will be no cover under the policy for losses arising from this event as this situation falls under the General Exclusion - War and Terrorism exclusion in our travel insurance policies.

Claims that are directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from, or in connection with war, invasion, act of foreign enemy or warlike operations (whether declared or not), riot, civil war, revolution, civil commotion assuming the proportions of or amounting to any uprising, military or usurped power or any similar event will be excluded.

If you are uncertain whether your circumstances fall under the General Exclusion – War and Terrorism, you may submit your claim(s) for assessment. Claims will be reviewed based on the information and supporting documents provided, in accordance with the policy’s terms and conditions.

  4. Will I be covered under my MSIG travel insurance for this event if the policy is purchased on or after 28 February 2026, 2:40 PM?

There will be no cover under the policy for any losses or claims arising from this known event if you have purchased the travel insurance or trip on or after 28 February 2026, 2:40 PM.

Please note that MFA has also issued an advisory to defer all travels to the Affected Areas/Countries. We will not cover claims due to any restrictions or regulations imposed by any government or local authority.

  5. My flight or travel plans are affected by this event. What should I do next?

If you are affected by this event, please contact your airline or travel agent directly for the latest updates on your flight status, rebooking options, refunds or alternative travel arrangements.

Singaporeans who are currently in the Affected Areas/Countries are strongly encouraged to eRegister with the MFA at https://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/ so that MFA can contact you when the need arises.
