16

How do the Deductible and Co-payment work when there is a claim?

The deductible and co-payment are portions of the incurred medical expenses that the policyholder is responsible for paying. This arrangement helps to keep your insurance premiums more affordable.

Below is an illustration how deductible and co-payment work:

Purchased plan: PawPlay (where the hospitalisation and surgery cover is $20,000)

Total hospitalisation and surgery expenses incurred = $10,000

Deductible: $200 and Co-payment: 20% (if pet was enrolled before 5 years old)

Step 1: Assessed amount after deductible

$10,000 - $200 deductibles = $9,800

Step 2: Assessed amount after co-payment

$9,800 x 20% co-payment = $1,960

The PawPlay plan will pay $7,840 ($9,800 - $1,960), and policyholder will pay $2,160 ($200 + $1,960).

If you would like to reduce out-of-pocket expenses during a claim, consider purchasing this optional cover offered under PawEasy.

Please note that PawEasy will only pay up to the maximum sum insured – amounts exceeding the sum insured and any ineligible expenses are not covered.
